Action for Sustainable Development (ASUD)

Action for Sustainable Development (ASUD) was founded in 2009 and it was legally registered as a non-profit local NGO with the office of the Registrar General in Malawi under Trustees Incorporation Act on 2nd August 2013. ASUD is a member of Council for Non–Governmental Organizations in Malawi (CONGOMA) and is one of the Network members of CURE in Malawi facilitating multi-focal areas of environmental management. It is currently working with public schools and rural communities in the northern region of Malawi mainly in the areas food security, fish farming, beekeeping, fruit production and afforestation. ASUD is being funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF)/ Small Grants Programme through United Nations Development Programme and Malawi Environmental Endowment Trust (MEET).

Purpose of Organization:

To protect and conserve environment through afforestation, sustainable agricultural programmes and sustainable income generating activities.

GEF/SGP involvement:

Between 2013 and 2015

Experience:

We have experience in natural regeneration, beekeeping, afforestation, fruit propagation, fish farming, agroforestry, bamboo cultivation, environmental education and soil and water conservation.
