Election of Regional Focal Points
The Network undertook an election for the GEF-CSO Network RFP for the East Africa region as the term of the current RFP, Environmental Management for Livelihood Improvement Bwaise Facility (EMLI) of Uganda completed on June 16, 2017. The election was initiated on 7 April 2017 and was carried out in accordance to the Election Procedures for the Operation and Management of the GEF-CSO Network. The election was overseen by an "Election Task Force" set up under the Governance, Membership and the Elections Sub-Committee. The list of countries which are currently included in the region is as follows: Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda.
Based on the election results, Environmental Management for Livelihood Improvement of Bwaise Facility (EMLI) of Uganda is duly elected as the Regional Focal point for the East Africa Region for a second term of four (4) years from 17 June 2017 to 16 June 2021. Please note that the period of office of the RFP may be periodically reviewed and adjusted by the Network.
